SDF Macross aftermath

Now that I have finished SDF Macross, I'm eagerly waiting for Macross Frontier. SDF Macross is a superb anime despite its time. Yeah, sometimes the animation is bad, really bad compared to today's standard. But storyline wise, it's a masterpiece.

Where in the world do you see main characters with personality like Hikaru Ichijo in this kind of anime? You normally see some hot headed or super cool characters. But he's different. He's a gentle guy. He's not even the best pilot there.

The the series ended with a legend, the missing Megaroad 1. What happened to the ship? That's an interesting story to explore. Too bad Hikaru Ichijo's seiyuu is not around anymore. But I'm hoping that sometime the story will be explored. I'm imagining that they got into a wormhole and transferred to different time, like the future, or even the past. How about them becoming the beginning of protoculture itself?
