Macross all over again

I'm watching Macross again. It was showed on TV like ten years ago and I don't think the TV showed it until the end. Anyway, because of the new Macross Frontier, the old movie Macross: Do You Remember Love, and now knowing that it's only 36 episodes, I decided to watch it.

Man, though it's made in the 80's, it's actually really really good. And I've just known that so far there are only 3 TV series of Macross: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Macross 7, and the current one, Macross Frontier. The rests are OVA and movies. But I don't think I'm interested to watch Macross 7. It looks so cheesy. What is it about controlling Valkyrie with music instruments? And attacking the enemies with speaker pods and playing live music to them?

Here's hoping that Macross Frontier captures the spirit of the first Macross. The first episode looked promising.
